James Carthew

Marten & Co

James started his career at M&G in 1984 where he wrote research on a wide variety of UK companies and managed a number of UK equity funds and M&G's Fund of Investment Trusts. From 2001-2010 he managed Advance UK Trust PLC, a global fund of funds that promoted good corporate governance within the closed-end fund industry. In 2013 he co-founded Marten & Co, which helps companies communicate with existing and potential shareholders, and operates the QuotedData website. James writes articles on the closed-end fund industry for a number of publications.

Simon Elliott

Simon has covered the investment trust sector as a sell-side analyst since 2002 when he joined Winterflood Securities, part of Close Brothers Group. Since 2008 he has headed the research team, which has been highly rated in subsequent Extel Surveys. Simon started his career with PwC, qualifying as a chartered accountant in 1998, before working in industry for three years. He completed a MBA with the Cranfield School of Management in 2002.

Nick Greenwood

Nick Greenwood joined Miton Group plc in 2002 (which was known as iimia at that time). He began his career in private client stock broking during the late 1970s. Nick was a founder member of Christows stockbroking operation in 1991. He joined the Christows Investment Trust team setting up their London office in 1995 and became lead manager in November 1997. Nick subsequently joined Miton Group Plc, LF Miton Worldwide Opportunities Fund was launched in April 2003 and was followed by Miton Worldwide Growth Trust in 2004.

David Holder

Morningstar

David Holder is a senior analyst on Morningstar's EMEA manager research team. He leads research on UK listed investment trusts within a variety of sectors.

Before joining Morningstar in 2015, David was a senior investment manager at Quilter Cheviot where he managed a range of private client, pension and charity portfolios. Previously, David was a member of the Quilter pooled funds analyst team with responsibility for investment trusts and UK, European, global and property funds.

David holds a bachelor's degree in history, with honours, from the University of Kent. In addition, he is a fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and has completed the Investment Management Certificate examination.

 

Jason Hollands

Jason Hollands is Managing Director at Tilney with responsibility for Business Development and Communications, as well as heading Bestinvest's VCT brokerage service. After graduating from Oxford he initially worked as a management consultant before entering the investment industry with Bestinvest, where he worked for nine years until 2002, latterly as Deputy Managing Director. Jason then spent nine years holding senior positions in the asset management industry as Director, Head of Communications & Strategy at ISIS Asset Management and then Director, Head of Corporate Affairs at London Stock Exchange listed F&C Asset Management, before joining Tilney in 2012. He is frequently quoted in the press and has written columns for titles including the Financial Times, The Times, The Sunday Times and The Herald.

Anthony Leatham

Peel Hunt

Anthony Leatham joined Peel Hunt in 2015 from Investec Wealth & Investment to help develop Peel Hunt's Investment Companies arm. Anthony was at Investec for 10 years, working for the last eight years in the Funds Research team, where he covered global, sector specialist, US, European and emerging market equity open and closed ended funds. Prior to this Anthony was a regulatory consultant at Deloitte, a position he held for five years, giving advisory services to a range of asset managers and investment banks. Anthony ranked 1st in the 2018 Extel Survey for Investment Trust Research.

Simon Moore

Seven Investment Management

Simon Moore is Senior Investment Manager at Seven Investment Management. He has been a fund analyst since 1994 and has worked with several stockbrokers in the City of London including Williams de Broë, Teather & Greenwood and Collins Stewart. He was also Head of Research at Tilney Bestinvest, a national UK Financial Adviser. Simon is a long standing member of two important committees at the Association of Investment Companies: the Statistics committee and the Property and Infrastructure Forum and is a Non-Executive Director of Athelney Trust, an investment trust listed on the London Stock Exchange. In 2013 & 2014 Simon was chosen as one of the Citywire Wealth Manager Top 100 most influential people in UK private client fund selection. Simon is a scientist by training and has worked at two start up UK biotechnology companies, before passing on his knowledge and passion as a science tutor for the Open University. He has a Biochemistry BSc from Imperial College, and an MSc in Computer modelling of molecules from Birkbeck College. He is a member of the UK Society of Investment Professionals and the CFA institute.
